Ellanse Treatment for Men

Ellanse is a collagen-stimulating injectable supplied in different duration profiles. It is assessed and injected by an SMC-registered doctor.

Abstract macro still life: concentric rings cut into clear glass, standing in for a polycaprolactone injectable with duration-graded variants.

Quick answer

Ellanse stimulates collagen over time and is supplied in more than one duration profile. Unlike hyaluronic acid filler it cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so the duration chosen is a decision made carefully at assessment rather than a preference ticked on a form.

What it is

Ellanse works by stimulating a collagen response in the treated plane. The material is supplied in different duration profiles, and the longer the profile, the longer you live with the decision.

It is not reversible with hyaluronidase. For a first treatment, or where you are unsure, a reversible hyaluronic acid filler or a shorter profile is the more conservative route and your doctor will discuss that.

Duration profiles and areas

Duration profiles
The product line is supplied in more than one duration profile, from shorter to longer lasting. The longer profile carries the same risks as the shorter one for longer, since none of them can be dissolved, so a longer-lasting profile is not automatically the better choice. Which profile suits your goal is decided with your doctor at consultation.
Areas treated
The areas suitable for treatment are agreed at assessment, based on your anatomy and the concern you came in with, rather than fixed in advance on a page.
Session structure
Session length, the number of sessions and the interval between them are set by your doctor at consultation.

What it treats

  • Loss of facial support where a longer-lasting stimulator is appropriate
  • Skin laxity in selected areas
  • Contour support where a non-reversible material has been discussed and accepted

The procedure, step by step

Assessment first, including a specific conversation about non-reversibility and duration.

The skin is cleaned and numbing is used as appropriate.

Product is placed in the planned plane and the area is moulded as directed.

Aftercare is explained and a review is booked before any further product is considered.

Results timeline

Some change is visible from placement, then a slower collagen response develops over the following months.

Results vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.

Downtime and aftercare

Swelling, bruising and tenderness for several days is common.

Avoid heavy exercise, sauna and alcohol for the first day. Because the material persists for the whole of its duration profile, report any lump or delayed swelling whenever it appears rather than waiting for a scheduled review.

Course and maintenance

Duration depends on the profile used and on the individual. Maintenance is judged at review.

Your review interval and the maintenance approach that follows are set by your doctor at consultation and revisited at each review.

Product and provenance

Ellanse is made of polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier, and is supplied in more than one duration profile. It is a collagen stimulator rather than a hyaluronic acid filler, and it is not reversible.

Products are sourced through official distribution channels and the batch number of every product used is recorded in your notes.

Why patients choose Hisential for this

  • Every Ellanse session is injected by an SMC-registered doctor, not delegated.
  • The duration profile is a clinical decision made with you rather than a preference you tick, because the product cannot be dissolved.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers, written by our clinical team. Tap any question for its direct permalink, or reach out to your Personal Concierge for anything else.

  1. Can Ellanse be dissolved?

No. Only hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

  2. Which duration should I choose?

That is a clinical decision made at assessment. A longer profile is not automatically better.

  3. How is it different from Sculptra?

Different material and different behaviour, although both stimulate collagen. Your doctor will explain which suits the area and your expectations.

  4. Is it suitable for a first treatment?

Often a reversible option is the more conservative first step. Your doctor will say so if that applies to you.

  5. What are the risks and side effects of Ellanse?

The most important point first: Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, this material cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so a vascular event is managed by other means and placement is planned conservatively for that reason. The longer the duration profile placed, the longer you live with any result you are unhappy with, which is why a longer profile is not automatically the better choice. Common and temporary: swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness for several days. Less common: prolonged swelling, visible or palpable product where it sits close to the surface, asymmetry, and infection at an injection point. Nodules can appear later. Rare but serious: vascular occlusion, where product enters or compresses a blood vessel. This can cause skin loss and, where vessels around the eye are involved, visual loss. It is a medical emergency. The warning signs are severe or increasing pain, blanching or dusky discolouration of the skin, and any change in vision. Contact the clinic immediately if any of these appear.

  6. Who is not suitable for Ellanse?

For a first treatment, or where reversibility matters to you, a hyaluronic acid filler is the more conservative choice, because this material cannot be dissolved. A history of keloid scarring, delayed nodules after a previous stimulator, or an active autoimmune condition is discussed at assessment. The general exclusions that apply to every injectable, active infection or inflammation in the area to be treated, a bleeding or clotting disorder, and blood thinners, are set out in full on the dermal fillers page. A known allergy to any component of the product excludes it. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications.

  7. Who performs the treatment?

Every injection at Hisential is performed by an SMC-registered doctor.
