VO2 Max & RMR Testing in Singapore

Two measured baselines at Hisential Orchard: how well your body delivers and uses oxygen under load, and how many calories you burn at rest. Both are measured by gas analysis rather than estimated by a watch or a formula. Each test has its own page below, and they can be booked together in a single morning.

Choose your test

VO2 max testing

For questions about fitness, endurance, training zones and cardiovascular capacity. A graded exercise test with breath-by-breath gas analysis, reported against reference ranges for your age and sex.

VO2 max testing

RMR testing

For questions about calories, weight, body composition and energy. A 15 minute fasted measurement by indirect calorimetry, turned into a daily energy target by your doctor.

RMR testing

How the two tests compare

What it measures

VO2 max: The maximum oxygen your body can use during exercise

RMR: The calories your body burns at rest

The question it answers

VO2 max: How fit am I, and how hard should I train?

RMR: How much should I actually be eating?

How it is done

VO2 max: Graded exercise on a cycle ergometer with a breathing mask

RMR: Reclined and still, breathing into an analyser

Time in clinic

VO2 max: About 45 minutes

RMR: About 30 minutes

Preparation

VO2 max: No hard training or caffeine, light meal only

RMR: Fasted at least eight hours, no caffeine

Main outputs

VO2 max: Peak oxygen uptake, ventilatory thresholds, heart-rate and power zones

RMR: Measured resting calories, respiratory exchange ratio, daily energy target

Sensible retest

VO2 max: After a twelve week training block, or annually

RMR: Every three to six months while changing body composition

Booking both in one visit

RMR is measured first thing while you are fasted. You then eat, rest, and complete the VO2 max test afterwards. Plan for roughly 90 minutes at the clinic. Read together, the two figures show how your body produces and uses energy at rest and under load, alongside your body composition and grip strength. Both tests sit within The Helios and The Orion longevity tiers and the Performance Max Bundle. Pricing is provided by your personal concierge before you book, with the full cost confirmed up front.

FAQ

Choosing between VO2 max and RMR testing

Clear answers, written by our clinical team. Tap any question for its direct permalink, or reach out to your Personal Concierge for anything else.

  1. Should I book VO2 max, RMR, or both?

Book VO2 max if your question is about fitness, endurance, training zones or cardiovascular capacity. Book RMR if your question is about calories, weight, body composition or energy levels. Book both if you want a complete picture of how your body uses energy at rest and under load, which is how the longevity tiers combine them.

  2. Can both tests be done in one visit?

Yes. RMR is measured first thing, fasted, then you eat and rest before the VO2 max test. Plan for roughly 90 minutes at the clinic in total.

  3. Which one is included in the longevity tiers?

Both tests sit within The Helios and The Orion tiers and within the Performance Max Bundle. The Weight Management Bundle includes RMR without VO2 max.

  4. Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. Your personal health concierge arranges the appointment and confirms pricing before you book.

  5. How much do these tests cost?

Pricing is provided by your personal concierge before you book, with the full cost confirmed up front. There are no charges for tests you did not approve.
