Rejuran Polynucleotide Treatment for Men

Rejuran is a polynucleotide skin treatment placed in the dermis to support skin quality rather than to change the shape of the face. It is assessed and injected by an SMC-registered doctor.

Abstract macro still life: a fine viscous gel thread drawn across warm neutral stone, standing in for a polynucleotide skin treatment.

Quick answer

Rejuran is a polynucleotide (PDRN) injectable placed in a fine grid across an area such as the cheek, under-eye or neck. It works on skin quality, not volume. Expect small bumps for a few hours, a short course of sessions about a month apart, then maintenance.

What it is

Rejuran is a polynucleotide injectable. Polynucleotides are chains of nucleotides, and the ones used here are PDRN derived from purified salmon DNA. They are placed superficially in the dermis rather than deep for structure, because the target is the condition of the skin itself.

Rejuran is not a filler and not a botulinum toxin. It does not add volume, and it does not relax muscle. If your concern is a hollow cheek or a movement line, a different treatment is the right answer and your doctor will say so at assessment.

Variants of Rejuran

Rejuran (classic)
The standard polynucleotide formulation, placed in a fine grid across the treatment area for skin quality.
Rejuran HB
A formulation combining polynucleotides with hyaluronic acid, chosen where hydration is part of the goal.
Rejuran under-eye
The under-eye indication, placed more superficially and in smaller amounts because the skin there is thin and unforgiving.

What it treats

  • Dull, dehydrated or crepey skin on the cheek and mid-face
  • Fine surface lines that are present at rest
  • Skin texture and visible pore appearance
  • Thin, tired-looking under-eye skin, where the issue is skin quality rather than hollowing
  • Neck and hand skin, which men routinely leave out of a plan

The procedure, step by step

Assessment first: your doctor examines the skin, agrees the areas with you and confirms that a polynucleotide treatment is the right choice rather than a filler, a toxin or a device.

Topical numbing cream is applied and left to work. The area is then cleaned.

The product is placed as a series of very small injections in a grid across the agreed area, using a fine needle or a cannula where that is more appropriate.

The area is cleaned again and cooled. Your doctor goes through aftercare with you and books your review.

Results timeline

Nothing is visible on the day except the injection points themselves. The change is in the condition of the skin and it builds gradually.

Most of the change follows the course rather than any single session, typically over the weeks after the second and third sessions. Results vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.

Downtime and aftercare

Small raised bumps at each injection point for roughly four to twenty-four hours, and pinpoint bruising in some people. Mild redness the same evening is normal.

Leave make-up off for twelve hours. Avoid sauna, hot yoga and heavy exercise for twenty-four hours. Use sun protection. Contact the clinic if you develop severe pain, blanching of the skin or any change in vision.

Course and maintenance

The protocol used at Hisential is an initial course of two to three sessions about a month apart, then maintenance every four to six months.

Maintenance intervals are set at review, not in advance, because they depend on how your skin holds the result.

Product and provenance

Rejuran is a polynucleotide (PDRN) product derived from purified salmon DNA. It is placed in the dermis, where it works on skin quality rather than on volume.

Products are sourced through official distribution channels and the batch number of every product used is recorded in your notes.

Why patients choose Hisential for this

  • Every Rejuran session is injected by an SMC-registered doctor, not delegated.
  • Assessment decides whether a polynucleotide is the right answer for your skin, or whether something else is.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers, written by our clinical team. Tap any question for its direct permalink, or reach out to your Personal Concierge for anything else.

  1. Is Rejuran a filler?

No. Fillers restore volume and change contour. Rejuran is placed in the dermis to work on skin quality and does not add volume.

  2. How many sessions will I need?

The protocol is an initial course of two to three sessions about a month apart, then maintenance every four to six months. Your doctor sets your own course at assessment.

  3. Does it hurt?

Topical numbing cream is used. Most men describe the injections as tolerable rather than comfortable, and the under-eye area is the most sensitive.

  4. Can I go back to work afterwards?

Small bumps last a few hours and mild redness settles the same evening, so most men return to work the next morning.

  5. What are the risks and side effects of Rejuran?

Common and temporary: small raised bumps at each injection point for a few hours, redness, mild swelling, tenderness and pinpoint bruising. Less common: prolonged swelling, small lumps that take longer to settle, and infection at an injection point. Rare but serious: vascular occlusion, where product enters or compresses a blood vessel. This can cause skin loss and, where vessels around the eye are involved, visual loss. It is a medical emergency. The warning signs are severe or increasing pain, blanching or dusky discolouration of the skin, and any change in vision. Contact the clinic immediately if any of these appear. Rejuran is placed superficially in the dermis in very small amounts, which lowers but does not remove that risk.

  6. Who is not suitable for Rejuran?

Untreated acne or inflammation in the area to be treated puts a session off until it settles. A history of keloid scarring or an active autoimmune condition is discussed at assessment. The general exclusions that apply to every injectable, active infection or inflammation in the area to be treated, a bleeding or clotting disorder, and blood thinners, are set out in full on the dermal fillers page. A known allergy to any component of the product excludes it. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications.

  7. Who performs the treatment?

Every injection at Hisential is performed by an SMC-registered doctor.
